Gareth Shadwell


    Gareth’s has expertise in the collection and analysis of Human & Equine biomechanics data, having been involved in research with Dr Jonathan Sinclair and Dr Sarah Hobbs respectively. However, throughout his role as a Lab Demonstrator and subsequently a Senior Demonstrator, Gareth has developed the skills to operate a vast amount of biomechanical, physiological and nutritional laboratory equipment and carry out tests in these respective fields. Accordingly, Gareth currently leads our pre-season VO2max testing sessions with Wigan Warriors and assists with the annual SPARQ testing with the team.


    • MSc Sport & Exercise Biomechanics (Distinction), University of Central Lancashire
    • BSc Sport Science (2:1), University of Central Lancashire
    • QA Level 2 Qualification in Basic Lifesaving and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), University of Central Lancashire.
    • Presented at BIG BASES 2017.

    Gareth is an early career researcher with ambitions to publish further biomechanical research and subsequently complete a PhD within this area. Additionally, he intends to complete a postgraduate certificate in teaching in order to become more involved with knowledge transfer and student support within SENS.
